The Uganda Railway Cooperation decries rowdy road users and market vendors.

The Uganda Railway Corporation (URC) has implored the public to prioritize safety and respect for designated railway areas.

While addressing the media at Naguru today, the acting Managing Director of the Uganda Railway Cooperation David Musoke Lubega has raised concerns over the recurring trend of accidents exhibited during the testing phase of the Railway line.
In a bid to revamp the Railway line services, In 2020, Uganda Railways Corporation signed a contract with M/s IMATHIA CONSTRUCCION to construct a concrete sleeper railway line from Kampala – Mukono. While as the physical construction commenced in 2023 with removing the old steel sleeper line from Kampala to Mukono, upon completion of the Kampala-Namanve project, Musoke Lubega appealed to the road users to ve cautious while crossing the railway line to avoid accidents when the train resumes its service.

On the same note, he appealed to market vendors who are fond of spreading their merchandise along the railway line to stop it with immediate effect.

Under the same breath,  Musoke cautioned members of the public who attempt to vandalize the railway equipments as he reiterated that such actions are illegal.
