NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi while speaking at Women's International Day at Kavule

By Joseph Kabale

Kampala

Yesterday, March 28th, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), disowned the
controversial Masaka Councilor Ali Katerega's plea to President Museveni for the release of the incarcerated NUP supporters.

At the height of the 2021 General elections, many NUP supporters were arrested on various charges such as Unlawful possession of military attires, Inciting violence, Malicious damage of properties, terrorism, engaging in the manufacturing of Improvised Electronic Devices, among others.
Few of the lucky supporters were released on court bail, acquitted, and according to NUP, some definitely disappeared never to be seen again, and others have not been able to secure a fair trial since they were arrested in 2021.

On March 05th, the Nabweru Chief magistrates court extended the 11 supporters who are battling terrorism charges to the International Crimes Division of High Court.

During the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Minister's at the state house, shortly after being paraded before the president as a new caught fish by Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, Ali Katerega begged for Museveni's mercy to consider the release of all jailed NUP supporters, a prayer which Museveni pledged to consider provided the said supporters are not charged with capital offenses.

In response, the NUP party president disowned Kateregga and stressed that they will not beg for the president's mercy to have their supporters, whom they believe to be innocent released.

"We are not begging for our Freedom because it's our constitutional right." Said Kyagulanyi while presiding over the celebrations of International Women's Day at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule yesterday.

John Musinguzi, The Commissioner General of URA speaking to Journalists at UMA hall in Lugogo By Joseph Kabale Kampala While as the Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) John Musinguzi has evidently done all to establish a rapport between the traders and the tax man (URA), the relationship seems to be deteriorating at every attempt. It's on the above ground that city traders, URA and other stakeholders convened a sensitization meeting at the Uganda Manufacturer's Association (UMA) yesterday purposely to educate the traders about the Value Added Tax (VAT) and the controversial Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution (EF...
