In regard to the Exercise Duty Tax proposal, the government moves to impose a UgShs1230 tax on every gas oil litre, a 1550 UgShs Tax on every paraffin liter, a 5% withholding tax on gains from sale of land in cities and Municipalities, sale of rental property and sale of shares in a private company.

Meanwhile, electric cars manufactured in Uganda will be exempted from taxes just like VAT on hoes, pesticides fertilizers, seedlings and cooking stoves that use ethanol.
The government as well intends to impose an excise duty of 500Ugshs per 50 kgs of cement, adhesive, grout and white cement.
This has sparked a heated argument amongst the citizens, upon which Alice Alaso, accused the government of running out of innovative ideas and now resorting to Exploitative taxation policies which stifle the livelihoods of Ugandans.
According to the National Coordinator for ANT Alice Alaso, such decisions will cause serious implications including a rise in the cost of living in Uganda.
It's upon this background that Alaso advised the government to deal with what she referred to as a blotted cost of public administration and its sedentary expenditure riding on a shrinking economy.
" This can be addressed by creating savings and this is how we think government can save money from this country, by dealing with a blotted public administration overhead in this country, it's too much....' said Alaso.
