Over 309B UgShs allocated for the Implementation of Free and compulsory UPE next year

After 27 years since the inception of Universal Primary Education (UPE), the gov't is set to roll out a Free but Compulsory UPE across the country by next year.


Ahead of the International Education Day celebrations for the year 2024, the state minister for Higher Education John Crysestom Muyingo has revealed that the Ministry has already obtained the 309.16b Uganda shillings capital grant to assist in the implementation of the program.

UPE and USE are Education programs intended to extend an opportunity to Ugandans who cannot afford private schools.

While addressing the fourth estate at the Uganda Media Center on Tuesday March 19th, Muyingo invited all Ugandans to participate in the forthcoming International Education Day commemoration ceremony at Kololo ceremonial grounds where the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be the chief Guest.

"The Ministry of Education and Sports in collaboration with our esteemed stakeholders a formal invitation to join us as we mark this significant day..."

The theme of this year's celebration is "Learning for lasting Peace ".
