KAMPALA - The Ministry of Education and sports has with immediate effect implemented the consideration of EMIS as the primary source of data for determining payment of grants to government education institutions.
The Education Management Information System (EMIS) is a locally developed system that was designed to facilitate the management of student and institutional data across all levels of learning in Uganda.
The purpose of EMIS is to integrate information related to the management of the Education and
Sports System and to make it available in a comprehensive and yet specific manner to EMIS users like the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, School inspectors, Donors among others.
In a letter issued this morning by the Ministry, all government funded Education institutions are required to immediately upload both the teaching and the non-teaching staff, including those who are not on the government's payroll, to the EMIS portal by April 15th, 2024.
Additionally, the Ministry declared that no one will be allowed to teach neither in the public nor private institutions without being registered on the Teacher's Management Information System (TMIS) portal by April 15th, 2024.
