The truck on which the victims were traveling sailing on water after the accident {Courtesy photo}   By Jose Kabale Kampala Three people have been announced dead and several injured as a vehicle lost control into a lake in Bumeru landing site in Mutumba subcounty of Namayingo district. It's alleged that the victims were conducting a music show drive on a fuso registration number UAY 233 S for a local comedian known as DIKU-DIKU which was intended to be held at Mulombi B trading center in Mutumba subcounty.  Eyewitnesses say they saw the vehicle overloaded with revelers being driven recklessly and the victims were shouting in lusoga word "enno edeemye"(meaning that it has failed/jammed). It was to their surprise to see the vehicle diving into the lake waters and killed some of the people who were on it.   By Jose Kabale Kampala - Media reports reaching our desk revealed the move by Permanent secretary, and secretary to the treasury at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Ramathan Goobi to have the parliamentary budget cut by 50% of the 52.7trillion as passed previously for the 2023/2024 financial year. According to the parliamentary website, the Speaker Anitah Among  has protested the move. President Museveni launching Salaam Bank at Kololo today {PHOTO CREDIT - JK} By Jose Kabale KAMPALA - Salaam Bank Limited, formally Top Finance Bank Limited is a subsidiary of Salaam African Bank of Djibouti licensed on September 08th, 2023 by the Bank of Uganda to offer Banking services in Uganda. The bank is intended to extend financial services that align with the Islamic tenets such as loans which do not attract interests but rather share profits after investment. While launching the Bank into service at Kololo ceremonial grounds today, the President of Uganda Rt.Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, noted with concern that most Muslims have not embraced some government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) because of Riba (Exploitative gains or profits made in trade). To cure this, Museveni disclosed that he is preparing to meet with leaders of the Muslim community in Uganda to improvise a definite resolution to the issue.
