Over 309B UgShs allocated for the Implementation of Free and compulsory UPE next year

  By Jose Kabale Kampala After 27 years since the inception of Universal Primary Education (UPE), the gov't is set to roll out a Free but Compulsory UPE across the country by next year. Ahead of the International Education Day celebrations for the year 2024, the state minister for Higher Education John Crysestom Muyingo has revealed that the Ministry has already obtained the 309.16b Uganda shillings capital grant to assist in the implementation of the program. UPE and USE are Education programs intended to extend an opportunity to Ugandans who cannot afford private schools. Mother of four chops off the head of her own daughter using a machete

BY JOSE KABALE KAMPALA The Bombo district Police yesterday the 18th of March rescued a one Josephine Namatovu, a resident of Mpakawero Lufula in Nyimbwa Sub County Luwero district, from a raging mob after allegedly murdering her 12years old daughter Caroline Tumwesigye by chopping off her head. According to Police findings, the mother cut off the juveniles' head, hand fingers after a thorough beating. Upon examining the scene, police recovered a machete and sticks hidden under a traditional mat. The provisional findings indicate that the suspect was practicing witchcraft. The suspect insists that the daughter was initially possessed by evil spirt before committing the heinous crime. The body pieces of the deceased were subsequently conveyed to the general hospital for postmortem.

While addressing the media at Naguru today, the acting Managing Director of the Uganda Railway Cooperation David Musoke Lubega has raised concerns over the recurring trend of accidents exhibited during the testing phase of the Railway line. In a bid to revamp the Railway line services, In 2020, Uganda Railways Corporation signed a contract with M/s IMATHIA CONSTRUCCION to construct a concrete sleeper railway line from Kampala – Mukono. While as the physical construction commenced in 2023 with removing the old steel sleeper line from Kampala to Mukono, upon completion of the Kampala-Namanve project, Musoke Lubega appealed to the road users to ve cautious while crossing the railway line to avoid accidents when the train resumes
